Jean Claude Bourgheuil is the leading French chef in Germany. His restaurant, Im Schiffchen («in the little ship») is in a northern suburb of Dusseldorf, nicely positioned in the market place, a few yards from the river Rhine. The three star restaurant is on the first floor while the ground floor is run as a separate and simpler restaurant under the name Aalschokker, both are under the direction of Jean Claude.

Near the river Rhine you will find this excellent restaurant devoted, as the name implies, to serving lobster and other shellfish. If you love lobster (hummer in German) as I do, then this is the place for you. You can order a four-course lobster menu consisting of four varieties of lobster dishes including an outstanding lobster bisque.
