VILLA SAN MICHELE |
Via Doccia, 4, Fiesole; tel.: 055 567 8200; fax: 055 567 8250
The logical choice was the historic Villa San Michele which is a beautiful 16th century Tuscan villa with a facade designed by Michelangelo. It has stunning views over Florence, luxurious rooms, a heated swimming pool, a gym and a piano bar. There is an indoor restaurant and an outdoor loggia. You can choose from a selection of Tuscan culinary delights such as taghatelle with lobster, ravioli with aubergine and various risottos. There is a comprehensive list of regional wines.

ENOTECA PINCHIORRI |
Via Ghibellina, 87; tel.: 055 24 2777; fax: 055 24 4983
This is one of my absolute favourites in Italy. Beautifully situated in a 15th century Florentine palace in the bustling city centre, but there is a calm interior courtyard where meals are served in summertime. There are also several attractive and well decorated dining rooms. Enoteca does of course mean wine cellar and the cellars that Giorgio Pinchiorri has at his disposal contain around 150,000 bottles which makes it not only one of the best but probably the largest restaurant cellar in Italy. Giorgio's French-born wife Annie Feolde is in charge of the kitchen and the combination makes this one of Italy's best restaurants.
