This is an Italian restaurant a few yards from France! If you come by car from Menton, the border town, and cross into Italy, Balzi Rossi is immediately after the border post on the right. An unusual location but a good place for your first meal in Italy. The restaurant is right by the sea with a terrace and a fine view over the Meditteranean. The family Begha will cook for you and look after you in the dining room. Recommended dishes: shellfish soup, courgette flowers with a shellfish mousse and large prawns lightly pan fried, or octopus salad with white beans. Like most restaurants on the sea they also have sea bass (loup de mer).
