There are very few gastronomic temples in the southernmost part of Europe. The exception to this is the marvellous Don Alfonso in the little town of Sant'Agata on top of the hill between Sorrento and Positano. Take the Naples/Salerno motorway, exit at Castellamare, then go up the hill from Meta de Sorrento. Founded, as the name shows, in 1890 by grandfather Alfonso it is now in the hands of Alfonso Iaccarino in the kitchen while his charming and attractive wife Livia looks after the dining room. The lood is very much Mediterranean which is complemented with home produced olive oil and fresh vegetables from their own farm.
