The Italian lakes in the foothills of the Alps form a lovely tourist area. There are of course hundreds of inns and restaurants around the lakes but let us take a look at hotel/restaurant Al Sorriso, in the little town of Soriso above the Lago di Orta, the smallest of the lakes. Here a remarkable lady chef and her husband, Lusia and Angelo Valazza, run a small hotel with one of the finest restaurants in Italy. We drove up from Milan (taking under two hours) and spent a enjoyable weekend relaxing and eating.
