The Piedmont region in north-west Italy is known lor good regional food including the famous white truffle Irom Alba. Turin, without reaching gastronomic heights, has some excellent restaurants serving good quality lood. Balbo is a good exponent of «cuccina del territorio» and may serve the best food in Turin. It is set elegantly in an 18th century palace in the centre of town. Some of the dishes on offer are fresh tagliatelle with egg yolk, vegetables, pine nuts and raisins or crayfish with a wild rice salad. There are fixed price menus available. Reservations recommended.
