There is no finer restaurant in this city than Parkheuvel, owned by Cees and Rosalie Helder. It is also well situated in a modern semi-circular building with large windows, overlooking the river Maas and the harbour. In summertime you can sit on a lovely terrace outside. Incidentally, the harbour of Rotterdam is the world's largest. Chef Cees Helder changes the menu daily in order to utilise the very freshest produce from the market, such as scallops, sole and turbot. Helder also uses truffles quite a lot in his cooking. There are several set menus to choose from but an interesting dish is sweetbread with truffles and sauce Perigordine. Cherries grilled with marzipan and champagne is a most unusual dessert.
