In the south-east corner of the Netherlands, near Maastricht, there is an excellent Relais & Chateaux hotel with a very fine restaurant. The Prinses Juliana was founded by the Stevens family back in 1914. It is still family-owned and is now in the capable hands of Paul and Doris Stevens. The hotel recently underwent a full restoration. The restaurant and its terrace look out over a beautiful garden. In the summer meals are served outside and if the weather changes a glass rool will protect the guests. My family and I have stopped over here and enjoyed the comfortable accommodation but more specifically came to enjoy the food. The restaurant has the reputation of being one of the best in the country. Some of the dishes on offer: sauteed langoustine tails with poached eggs and goose liver, foil owed by grilled turbot a la mousseline or you could have a meat dish such as duck confit with cream of truffles.
