Nou, 10; tel.: 93 760 0662; fax: 93 760 0950
If you feel like a gourmet excursion north along the coast from Barcelona take a 40 minute train ride to San Pol de Mar. The train will drop you at the door of Carmen Ruscalleda's and Toni Balam's restaurant, Sant Pau. You are now in one of the best restaurants on the coast and Carmen will perhaps suggest her tasting menu. The regular menu will feature dishes like red mullet with black olives or sea bass on a bed of baby leeks in a sauce of sweet Catalan wine. An unusual meat dish is wild boar sausage with stewed pineapple and peach. The wine list has many fine Spanish wines. The restaurant is situated in an old house with a pleasant garden overlooking the sea.
