On the hills above Montreaux, only 4km up from the town is a small but superb gastronomic haven. The restaurant is not large but well decorated and outside is a pleasant garden where you can take a drink in clement weather. Gerard Rabaey, the patron, is a modest but very talented chef who has come to be recognised as one of the best. He does not seek publicity but just gets on with creating lovely dishes. A few of the delicacies you can order are rouget (red mullet) in various ways, lapin (rabbit) with basilic. I remember having veal kidneys with juniper sauce and ending with a hot souffle with berries. Don't miss this gem!
